Dr. Shilpa Sivashankar shares with the readers of electronics letters her personal prospectives and more background information on our recently accepted paper titled "Flexible low-cost cardiovascular risk marker biosensor for point-of-care applications". To read more, check the front of the latest issue of electronics letters where the interview highlights and expands on the research and her predictions for the future.
In this work we demonstrated a low-cost, fast method for developing flexible capacitive sensors, using laser etching, that can identify or anticipate disease in a pre-symptomatic stage. The sensor is capable of detecting and quantifying the CRP protein associated with cardiovascular diseases."
