The American University in Cairo (AUC) and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) are developing a new generation of miniaturized devices. Such devices are expected to introduce dramatic improvement in the performance of handheld communication systems, navigation systems and energy harvesting techniques. Prof. Sherif Sedky, the project’s PI, indicates that this is the “beginning of a long lasting relation between KAUST and the AUC”. The success of this project is witnessed by filing two patents and having a third one under preparation. In addition, the results of the research have been disseminated in top conferences in the field where a dozen of papers have been published. Dr. Amro Elshurafa and Dr. Ahmed Emira will be hosted at the sensors lab to work on these projects.
